I had this discussion with my brother yesterday during Sahoor. And honestly, there's a higher chance that Mirable lied. I thought about it but I tried to remove it from my mind. I thought โ€œguilty until proven otherwiseโ€. I still stand by that statement but its kind of clear that the truth doesn't add up.

This was how I and my brother sat down to dissect it too. You can't be cut with anything in a sensitive area such as that and not โ€˜feel itโ€™. The pain will be unbearable. Sitting on hot water is probably something she heard from traditional women because that's what women who had tears during child labor do. They sit on a bucket of hot water to close up the tear. It works but not for object induced injury.

For the sniper, I know how deadly it is!! We had a dog that died just by sniffing sniper. He died in minutes after sniffing sniper, we couldn't safe him.

There are so many things that just doesn't add up and it made me very scared for my brothers. I've read news of men who lost their lives due to false rape allegations.

It could be anyone. I thought โ€˜if this turns out to be false, then it means my brothers aren't safe eitherโ€™.

If these false accusations keep happening and no one does or says anything, then one day, it could be my brothers.

So if this happens to be false, she must do jail time. Because it's unfair to everyone! The men who gets indicted for something they didn't do and the real rape victims who will be denied justice. I know two rape victims personally, there's been no justice for either of them. What happens if real rape victims appear and no one believes them?

Iโ€™m not going to lose my humanity because of silly people who keeps forcing everyone to doubt. Everything is clear now but if I should hear about a rape case again, iโ€™ll still speak about it until proven otherwise. The โ€œwhat ifโ€ she actually went through that is what I will keep choosing to sit with.

And if it turns out to be a lie, it would a lesson for her, not me, and definitely not my brothers or any innocent man!

Thank you. I love how it endedโ€ฆ Whether Mirabelโ€™s alleged case turns out to be a lie or not, it should not be used to generalize that women lie whenever real cases of sexual assault arise in our society.

You said We cannot allow this to become ammunition to dismiss all accusations. We cannot let it turn into, โ€œSee, women lie about rape all the time,โ€ because statistically, they donโ€™t. If anything, this would be an outlier, not the norm.

"because believing women doesn't mean turn off our critical thinking",this stood out for me.

Because suddenly everyone is now an activist, everyone with a phone suddenly has an opinion, but like you said, cases like this happen in real time so we shouldn't be quick to be skeptical or dismissive, but there's also a thing called verification

This is something a lot of Nigerians overlook, everyone posting about it are either doing it for their own personal reasons, after all this is the latest news on TikTok, only few are actually speaking on it BECAUSE of the alleged victim.

One thing I was also very doubtful of was the text she allegedly received, where the attacker mentioned cutting her with a blade, my thoughts were "didn't you know you were cut with a blade before receiving his text?, no pain was felt or what?"and also the whole thing with her neighbors as well.

I just hope this case doesn't have a negative effect on real and true cases of other victims if this turns out to be false, because in a country like Nigeria, I don't think anyone would take a similar case seriously.

Exactly my point, I have argued and fought with almost every living soul on her matter, wrote epistle and all only for it to be fake.

How do people even do it, take someone's real pain and act it out, she didn't even think it thoroughly.

She just made life harder for victims of such cases.

Very saddening, I'm never rushing to post anything until it's confirmed.

I have not been online to really watch, see and read everything about this Mirabel case. I have only seen some videos, but I must say this insult my medical knowledge.๐Ÿ˜ญ

But yessss, I love this! You're on point, no doubt at all. But still we shouldn't forget our "If(s)", and she definitely needs to face consequences if it later turns to be a lie. It does more damages than good.

iโ€™m holding on to the benefit of the doubt because iโ€™d be furious if it turned out to be false and mirabel really staged an entire production. real rape victims already struggle to be heard; their voices are dismissed before they even reach social media. now imagine the damage if this ends up being a big scripted performance. people will doubt real victims even more and that is heartbreaking. and the fact that i wrote about both mirabel and femโ€™s situation in my recent pieceโ€ฆ bro. regardless, justice for every rape victim. always.

Oh my God, this was so beautiful and insightful.

A single outlier is not the norm๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ

Just because Mirabel lied, does not mean that another Mirabel is lying.

It is both funny and annoying how people, women most especially now take "false accusations" as a normal thing and people now find it hard to believe what is real, who is speaking the truth and what is false and who is lying.

If this issue based on the recent news I have been hearing about it is true that she made it all up. I hope she is punished to serve as a warning to other false accusers and to make the real victims speak up because this, this can lead to total destruction. Career destruction. Image destruction. Life destruction and an apology can never ever fix it.

How will an apology fix a life that you destroyed based on false accusation?

May Allah guide us and fill us with the right wisdom and knowledge as to how to approach and judge matters.

Aameen.

I hope we see the truth of the matter sha, rape is real and its bad

There is so much noise about it and very few people are doing things that will help the situation

Oh my God

I still stand on what I said earlier if the allegation is tru but if it isn't, she need to be dealt with and face the consequences

She lying does not automatically means other assaults lie, thanks for pointing that out

And also, clarifications are needed to be made before report

We learn everyday.

Thanks๐Ÿ˜Œ

Thanks so much for coming out to write this, it's very commendable and encouraging.

I was just thinking about this yesterday, when she posted the video, a lot of people raised dusts and spoke and wrote about it and when it was confirmed as a lie I was waiting for the same set of people to inform everyone that the story was made up but to my surprise, many of them kept quiet.

So I really appreciate you speaking up and reaffirming your belief and stance.

God bless you in Jesus name ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคฒ.

Well-done

Kudos to you

May Allah bless you with beneficial knowledge.

I don't really know the story in detail o but a friend of mine told me about it and how people found out the allegation she made is false.

The first thing I told him was, a rape victim no matter how minimal or serious it might be, will never come out on social media to talk about how she was violated except if she has gone through a lot of healing and therapy sessions and the first person she will tell, that is if she will not be too traumatized to tell people, will either be her families or someone close to her not the media.

I am not trying to rule out the real rape cases that happen o but as you said, the false allegations she made will cause a doubt when something like this happens again but this time, it will be real and people will find it hard to believe except for those that chose to think critically not those that allows emotions to cloud their judgement.

This matter will make real victims hold back from speaking up about being violated or raped.

Well, we are humans sha but I hope we all reason and think about things the right way that won't lead to taking false issues seriously and seeing serious ones as false issues.
